Access Methods

Three ways to search your knowledge

Choose the right interface for your workflow. Visual exploration, conversational search, and AI tool integrations all query the same underlying knowledge base.

Explorer
Visual

Browse your data visually in the Telara dashboard. Click to expand, filter by source, and discover connections you did not know existed.

Aniya
Conversational

Ask questions about your data in natural language. Get answers grounded in your actual code, tickets, messages, and documentation.

AI Tools
In Your Editor

Search your Telara knowledge base directly inside Claude Code, Cursor, or other AI-powered development tools.

Visual Interface

Explorer

The Explorer provides an interactive, visual view of your knowledge base. Browse your data as a graph, discover clusters of related work, and click into any item for full details.

Start from a high-level overview and click to expand. Every node represents something searchable -- a code file, a Jira ticket, a Slack thread, a Confluence page. Every line between nodes is a real connection discovered during indexing.

Scope Selection
My Workspace -- Your personal view -- data from all integrations you have access to
Organization -- Everything indexed across your entire organization
Project -- Scoped to a specific project and its connected data
Team -- Data relevant to a specific team and their integrations
Integration Filtering

Filter the graph to show data from specific integrations. Focus on just your GitHub repositories, just your Jira projects, or any combination. Filters apply in real time without reloading the graph.

Graph Visualization

Interactive graph layout. Click any node to expand its connections. Double-click to open full details. Drag to rearrange. Zoom and pan to navigate large graphs.

Recent Activity

Start from the most recently indexed or updated items. See what changed across your integrations today.

Key Nodes

Jump to the most connected items in your knowledge base. These are the central pieces of your codebase and operations.

Theme Clusters

Discover groups of related items organized by theme. Authentication, payments, infrastructure -- see how topics connect.

Document Upload

Upload documents directly from the Explorer for instant indexing. Drop in a PDF, markdown file, or text document and it becomes searchable immediately -- no integration setup required.

Conversational Interface

Aniya

Aniya is Telara's AI assistant -- a conversational interface to your entire knowledge base. Ask questions in natural language and get answers grounded in your actual code, tickets, messages, and documentation.

Think of Aniya as your organization's collective memory, accessible through conversation.

Ask Anything
>"What authentication changes were made last week?"
>"Show me the incidents related to the payment service"
>"Who has been working on the API gateway this sprint?"
>"Find all Slack discussions about database migration"
Features
Model Selection -- Choose the AI model that powers responses. Select based on speed, depth, or cost.
Search Tools -- Aniya uses the same search capabilities as your AI tools -- semantic search, connected search, and more.
Scope Selection -- Control what data Aniya can access for each conversation. Scope to a project, team, or the full organization.
Conversation History -- Past conversations are saved and searchable. Return to previous research or share context with teammates.

AI Tool Integrations

Search from your AI tools

Search your Telara knowledge base directly inside Claude Code, Cursor, or other AI-powered development tools. Four search capabilities are available, and they are the same ones that power the Explorer and Aniya.

All searches are read-only by design. They find, browse, and retrieve -- they never modify your data.

Semantic Search

Search across all your indexed data by meaning. Ask questions in natural language and get results ranked by relevance, not just keyword matches. Filter by integration type, content type, or theme.

What You Get

Ranked results with content snippets, relevance scores, and links to the original source

Example

"authentication middleware implementation"

Connected Search

Start from any item in your knowledge base and explore its connections. Browse related code files, tickets, messages, and documents to understand how things connect across your tools.

What You Get

Connected items with their relationship types and context

Example

"Given a function, find all files that import it"

Enriched Context

Get the full picture for any item in your knowledge base. See the item itself plus its most relevant related items. Optionally focus on a specific question to rank related items by what matters most to you.

What You Get

Full item details with related items, connections, and surrounding context

Example

"Get context for a Jira ticket, including linked PRs and Slack discussions"

Source File Reading

Read actual source files from your repositories. Get the full source code without needing to clone entire repos. Use when you need the complete implementation, not just a search summary.

What You Get

Full file content as indexed from your repository

Example

"Read the full implementation of a function found via search"

Setup

Setting up AI tool integrations

Connect your AI development tools to Telara so you can search your knowledge base directly from your editor or terminal.

How to Connect
Generate an API key -- Create an API key from your configuration settings in the Telara dashboard.
Tools auto-discover -- Search tools are automatically available based on your configured data sources and permissions.
Scoped access -- Data access is scoped by your configured data sources -- tools only see what you allow.
Start searching -- Use semantic search, connected search, enriched context, and source file reading directly from your tools.
Supported Tools
Claude Code -- add your Telara server URL and API key to your settings.
Cursor -- configure via the server settings panel.
Other AI Tools -- any compatible AI development tool can connect.

See the Configuration docs for full setup instructions including API key generation and tool configuration examples.

Practical Scenarios

Use cases

Real workflows that combine search, connection browsing, and source reading to solve everyday engineering and operations problems.

Debug a production issue
Search → Browse → Read
  • Search for the error message across all indexed data
  • Browse connections from matching code to related services and dependencies
  • Read the actual source code of the affected functions
  • Find related incidents and past discussions about similar failures
Onboard to a new codebase
Explore → Discover → Read
  • Open the Explorer and browse the knowledge base for the project
  • Discover key components by navigating the most connected items
  • Read auto-generated descriptions to understand what each component does
  • Find related documentation, tickets, and team discussions
Cross-team knowledge sharing
Search → Connect → Understand
  • Search for a concept or feature across the organization
  • Find code, tickets, and discussions from multiple teams
  • Browse connections to understand the full context across team boundaries
  • Share conversation links from Aniya with teammates
Incident retrospective
Start → Trace → Correlate
  • Start from the incident in your knowledge base
  • Trace connections to the root cause -- code changes, configuration diffs, deployments
  • Find related code changes made in the same time window
  • Discover similar past incidents to identify recurring patterns

Recommendations

Best practices

Get the most out of your knowledge base by using the right tool for each situation and combining them for deep research.

Explorer for visual discovery

Use the Explorer when you do not know where to start. The visual graph helps you discover connections and patterns that are hard to find through search alone. Key nodes and theme clusters are particularly useful entry points.

Aniya for natural language questions

Use Aniya when you have a specific question about your organization's work. It excels at synthesizing information from multiple sources into a coherent answer. Great for questions that span code, tickets, and discussions.

AI tools for your development workflow

Use AI tool integrations when you need search access directly in your development environment. Ideal for integrating knowledge into your workflow inside your IDE or terminal.

Combine approaches for best results

Start with a semantic search to find what you are looking for, use connected search to explore relationships, get enriched context for comprehensive detail, and read source files when you need the actual code.
